I just acquired a 1968 6hp Evinrude OB (model # 6802C). It seems to run like a Top but I am just looking for some information on it specifically about the cooling system. I have run it in a tank of water and it runs and idles just fine. However it does not seem to have a cooling water discharge port (pee hole). There is warm water coming out of the same hole as the exhaust and the engine does not seem to be over heating. Does anyone know if this model has a cooling water discharge port or does the cooling water discharge from the exhaust? Also is there anything else quirky I should know about this motor?
Thanks
Duckfan

The water discharge is the hole you mention about halfway down the exhaust housing. Water should shoot out there with quite a bit of force.

The rest of the water is discharged out of the underwater exhaust port, just above the propeller.

Paul... Looks like we might type at about the same speed (grin).
