I picked up this motor to go on my 1959 all american im rebuilding and some of the wires aren't connected. I have the ignition wires hooked up and it turns over but won't start. Theres a pic of the wires by the ignition and 2 on the motor that have been cut. The other pic is of under the top, has 2 connection that have nothing plugged into them.

Re: 1968 evinrude wiring problem

1st pic kinda looks like the back of the keyswitch without the magneto wires on it,cant really tell,,,,,sec pic looks like the safety switch under armature plate,,3rd looks like starter,,yes to mixed gas 50:1[16 oz oil, outboard tcw-3 only ,,to 6 gal reg octane ,87 ok,here in us anyway, the brits do it differently]],,and your engine oil is what you have mixed with your gas,it lubes everything that needs it inside,so no actual motor oil anywhere like in autos,,,i would suggest if you are going to fix this thing yourself to get a manual,,,factory or seloc, they have seloc here on iboats,i got one and cant see how i wouldve gotten by without it after getting everything done on a 66 lark,,it will clarify alot for you and enable you to ask better prepared questions ,,it will also show you a wiring diagram as to what the wires are [or sup to be] and where they go[or sup to go],oh yeah,,check the compression on all cyl before going any further,,if good comp on all cyl ,proceed fixing this thing,,,,,,,if not good,,might as well be a parts motor,it would cost some bucks to totally rebuild it,even doing the work yourself,,,good luck brother
