Hello, I have a 1968 Johnson 40 HP - Model # RKL-30A Electramatic Shift. This motor has been sitting since 2003. However, I have pulled apart and cleaned everything for the most part (carburetor, lower end, Ect.). The issue I am having is this: when you pull the start lever the engine fires right up and idles great, I can rev the motor up and down with the start lever no problem. However, when I move the shift lever the engine runs great until I get to 1/2 to 3/4 throttle then it bogs down and stalls. I am running 89 octane 50:1 ratio....... anyone else have this issue?..... I am guessing a couple of thing just want your opinion ( float in bowl needs adjusted, fuel line needs replaced, air in the fuel line?) any opinion would be appreciated.
Thanks
Andy

Did you remove the high speed jet for cleaning ? ----It is found in the bottom of the float bowl.----------Do you have actual spark that will jump a gap of 1/4" or more on both leads ?-------Have you done a compression test ??

Another thing to check on is the fuel pump, sometimes the diaphragm gets stiff with age and they won't supply enough fuel for higher speeds.
