My friend picked up this old boat and motor that had been sitting for a while (2 yrs or more). We fired it up no probs and had it running fairly well on the trailer (with water running to it of course!) . We took it down to the boat launch, put it in the water, fired it up, he backed it out and it stalled - never to start again... I started looking at it, and it has spark so no probs there. However, the plugs are completely dry leading me to believe I have fuel probs... After some trouble shooting, I think the problem might be the fuel pump?? There is a unit bolted to the side of the engine that the gas line runs into and the fuel filter is attached to - I am assuming that is the fuel pump. It has a line that runs into the crank case and another line runs in underneath the motor itself to somewhere else - presumable the spot where the gas is redirected to the three carbs... If I pump the bulb in the gas line, gas is getting through the fuel filter no probs and into the line that runs down under neath the motor towards the carbs (I pulled the lines to check) BUT, no fuel is getting into the cylinders because the plugs are all dry (it's a three cylinder motor). It appears that it must be related to the part (whatever it is) that redirects the fuel to the three cylinders??? What would that part be anyway?? I tried looking at some schematics but nothing really shows it very well. I suppose it could also be that the fuel pump is just not powerful enough anymore (diaphragm probs or whatever) or that something is plugged or broken between teh fuel pump and the carbs. I don't see any fuel leaking underneat anywhere so I don;t think it a line problem or anything like that...

I should also mention that in my troubleshooting,I pulled the plugs and squirting gas in the cyls and it fired up right away, but obviously stalled fairly quickly once the fuel was burnt...

Help!! Any ideas what I should try or where I could maybe get parts would be very helpful!
