You guys were great to help me with water pump questions and when my unit was stuck in forward gear. All is well. I have changed the gas pump gaskets and diaphram. I also cleaned out the in line filter on the carb. Now I have starting problems that I have never had before. Seems the in line gas bulb gets hard and when the engine fires, it only runs for 20 seconds and stalls. If I can get to the bulb and apply pressure, it seems to run longer but usually stalls after a while. Could this be bad points? Or fuel problems? I changed and gaped the plugs with no change. Dave

Dave, looks like you need to clean the carb out. Underneath of where you cleaned out the filter on the carb, remove the (2) screws holding on the float bowl cover and you'll likely see any issues the carb is having.

Also you can pull the brass plug at the bottom front of the carb for inspection. Inside lies the main jet and if fuel doesn't come pouring out of this opening once the plug is removed, you definitely need to open the carb up.

You can do quite a bit of maintenance on the carb without having to remove it. If you get any issues in the float bowl fixed, and the main jet is clear, it should at least start and run long enough for you to evaluate what shape the motor's internals are in.

The info at this site should help you with adjustments/settings etc.
