So I picked up a 55hp Johnson Selectric. I don't really know anything about the motor any experts that can tell me some areas of concern with this motor?
Exhaust plate warping/corrosion causing exhaust to enter cooling system, Hydro-electric shift components can be expensive. Thermo-electric choke often quits working. Ignition components also can get expensive
In its day it was a very good engine. It had better thrust and top end than the 65hp V4 and burned about the same amount of gas per hour as the then current 33hp.
