1969 40 hp Johnson Outboard " Electric Start "

Recently bought a 40es69r Johnson outboard. This might be an extremely stupid question but im a newbee. Outboard had a plug coming out of it " didnt get any other wiring with engine" , what exactly is this plug for ?

If it's a seven pin plug it's probably for the remote controls. The plug and wiring to connect to it come with the control box (gearshift/throttle/key switch).
