1969 80 hp merc stalls after 45 min.

I am looking at 1969 80hp merc for a friend.I have noticed after ideling the motor for 20 minutes number 2 and number 4 plugs are wet.After trolling for about 45 minutes the engine stalls. Is this a case of fuel being to rich or do I have other problems? Thanks for any help.

Just a guess but you may have a carb float that gets saturated after 20 minutes and doesn't do it's job at restricting extra fuel from beeng forced into the carb bowl...and into a running motor, therefore flooding the dern thang...just a Thought
