1969 85 hp no start have spark and fuel

I have a 1969 85 hp j85esl69e mounted to a 69 starcraft jupiter v guy said had no spark I checked it i have spark i have fuel I have compression if I wot and try starting it I bangs really loud out by the propeller idk wat else to do

Sounds like plug wires are not hooked up correctly.---Make sure # 1 mark on the cap and wire go to #1 cylinder.----Then there is always the chance that it has the wrong cap too.

Agree on the wires. Also, are points set at 0.010"?. How about TOO MUCH fuel (exploding in the exhaust housing)?
