Hey Poppa....<br /><br />Just a couple questions....what color is the "oil"? If it's black, chances are it's just unburned oil coming from the exhaust housing.<br /><br />Have you checked the gear case lube lately? Set the motor upright for 10 minutes or so. Put a clean container under the gear case to catch the oil. Pull the drain plug slowly so you can see what's coming out. A few drops of water is normal. A bunch is not. May be one or more seals leaking.<br /><br />If your not adept at this kind of work, take it to a mech and have the lower unit checked and repaired.<br /><br />If you want to give it a go, I can't stress getting a manual enough. OEM is the preferred service manual. Check the site below for getting a reprint of the original service manual.<br /><br />

OEM manual will guide you throug it step by step if the work needs done. The manual will also tell you how to test the gear case for leaks. Also in the OEM manual, you will find a whole bunch of other stuff just for your engine.<br /><br />Keep us posted.
