Hey everyone,
I have a 9.5 seahorse (1969) and im at my wits end with it. The motor itself just will not run properly, and when it does run it will only run on full choke at half throttle and it only stays running for a minute if that.
I have pulled the fly wheel and checked coils and points and everything is functioning fine and looks it great condition. I have reset the points to 0.20 with a feeler gauge but i am now wondering if i reset them wrong. The engine also sneezes alot when its running. Sorry for the vauge details but im pritty new to this stuff and its just to many problems to list

That's a common problem... a fouled carburetor. Remove, clean thoroughly, and rebuild the carburetor as needed. The most common clogged area is the brass high speed jet which is located in a horizontal position way in back of the 7/16" slotted drain screw/bolt. Make sure that jet is absolutely clean.... you may be lucky and get away with simply cleaning that jet out.

In the bottom of the float bowl you will find a high speed orifice ( jet ) and it is screwed in.---Was it removed for inspection / cleaning?----You remove the drain plug ( 7/16" wrench ) to use a 3/16" diameter screwdriver to remove it.---If it is really tight you might have to modify a screwdriver.
