1969 merc 65hp flywheel broken?

the flywheel has a hub in the center with 8 bolts. 1 bolt is broken.

the flywheel itself has about 1.5inches of rotation slack in the hub. you can move the flywheel for 1.5 inches in either direction before turning the crankshaft. the keyway is OK and the hub doesnt move on the spindle.

is the flywheel broken?

Your flex plate is broken don't run the engine the outer part of the flywheel may come off. The Mercury part number for the flex plate is 55623A5 if you can not find a used flywheel.
