1969 Merc 75 Flush Question

Hello,

Just tried flushing my 1969 Merc 75 using the flush port on the lower unit. I got a little water coming out of the intake, alot of water from in front of the prop, and no water from any ports higher up. Can someone tell me what is going on here? Is this normal?

Well, I'm just answering my own questions here, but I figure maybe someone will find use in it at some point in the future.

The telltale on this unit is a tiny little hole right next to the flush port on the right side of the lower unit. It was plugged. I connected a hose directly to the water uptake tube in the lower unit (after taking off the gearbox) and then I took a small wire and rodded it out while the water was running. Now it is fine.

The majority of the water from the cooling system empties out of two holes at the bottom of the engine block into the lower unit along with the exhaust, which is why I've got alot of water coming from in front of the prop.
