I wanted to introduce our latest boat project. Although oddly enough it's really not much of a project. I finally took my own advice and bought the best we could afford.
She's a 1969 Reinell 18.5' outboard with an Evinrude motor 100 hp motor. A friend found her stored in a garage for the past 38 years, so she looks practically like a new 45 year old boat.
He had a new water pump put in the engine and got the motor running, then found another car he wanted and passed this boat along to us. We had a 1969 Reinell 19' I/O for a few months, but realized it needed too much transom work so we just sold it and bought this instead.
I still need to go through the fuel tanks, and double check the motor as well as the rest of the systems before taking her out on our maiden voyage. I will be poking around in the outboard section as well as trying to figure out what else we need to do to her before putting her in the water.
She came with the original convertible top which is still in amazing shape, an old-skool depth finder, and good trailer. The seats are perfect, and the top doesn't have a rip in it and the windows are still clear.
Here are a few photos, I'll take more as we go along.
Cheers!
Ian
