I notice that the 1970 33hp Evinrude doesnt show up on some of the parts listings in iboats. I'm hoping that it takes parts from another hp model like the 40? 30? or 25? Just bought this 33. It hasnt been run in at least 15 years according to the young guy I bought it from...he's selling off his grandpa's toys. I've printed out the FAQ awakening an OB posting and can't wait to get at this OB. It looks like it is in great shape.

It most resembles the 35hp from 1957, but don't assume everything is gospel. All the original numbers are at http://shop.evinrude.com/

That is a great resource. Don't know why I didn't find that in the first place.

I don't think it is an odd duck at all. It's listed at shop.evinrude.com and there are lots of parts still available for it. I'd be willing to bet that sea-way marine in Seattle, has most of them.

My vote for the motors that best resemble it, would be a 1965 through 1969 Evinrude 33hp motors. The next closest would be the 1965 through 1970 Johnson 33hp motors, which are the same engine, other than paint color, cowl/hood pieces and trim items.

Well, yeah sure all the 33hp models were about the same. I guess what I was saying was just a portion of the history of it. That basic engine came out in 1955 as a 25hp, grew to 30hp in 1956, then grew again to 35hp in 1957-58. Then it was ressurrected in 1962-64 as 28hp, growing to 33hp in 1965-70. It was resurrected still again in 1971-76 as a 40hp, and even beyond that as a 'Commercial" model. Concurrently with all this it was sold as 25, 35, and 40hp by Gale Products and their mail order customers up through 1963. So it certainly is not an odd duck, but a very common duck.
