1970 50hp Mercury charging sytem

Hello,
I am new in this forum and have a question to ask.
I have been restoring a 14' fiberform runabout, with a 1970 Mercury 500
thunderbolt.

Does this motor have any type charging capacity. It has been rebuilt before
i received it and runs fine.

I really need the serial number to tell for sure. I would look for two yellow wires coming from under the flywheel if you find them there. There is a good chance you do have a charging system.
