The engine starts and runs extremely well, moves in reverse fine but does not engage forward. The prop spins a little bit but something is clearly not right as thge boat doesnt go anywhere. I though maybe it would be a sheared key, but when I took off the prop I didnt see one leading me to believe that this has a clutch. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Background info: This is my very first boat and after a month of scraping, sanding, welding, painting and carpeting and upholstery work, I took it out today and found the issue with the motor. I would greatly appreciate any help anyone could give me. If I need to provide more info I certainly will do my best to do so.

Thanks!

The propeller hub has an inner and an outer section protected by a rubber bushing that releases from impact, but also from age and exhaust heat.

Use the cotter pin as a pointer and scribe a line across the face as shown, then run the boat. If the line moves off center, you will need to re-hub or replace the propeller.

Well I took the prop off and everything looks good there so I decided to test the engine before putting the prop back on. I noticed that the engine engages in reverse just fine, but does nothing other than accelerate without engaing in forward. The shaft does not spin forward at all. Is there something that could possibly be disconnected as far at the cable or wiring goes?
