I am replacing all the seals in the the gearcase and everything is ok until I install the skeg... With the skeg off the driveshaft turns and I can find FNR by moving the shift shaft and holding the prop shaft in place.. But when I install the skeg and pivot pin the driveshaft locks up.. And I can turn the prop shaft both directions with a lot of force and it does not turn the drive shaft..I have tried in F N and R and same results..I have done a few larger gearcases with no problems.. But it appears I am doing something wrong on this one..

Got the dowel pins aligned with the holes in the bearings?

The front bearing is lined up for sure.. And the gearcase head has a square piece sticking out that I put facing so it locks inside the upper portion of the gearcase..

Give the end of the propshaft a bump with a hammer.----That seats the forward bearing to get rid of the binding.-----Or bring it over and I fix for you !

I will try that thanks... I moved away from that fine province to escape my ex and only return to visit my father from time to time..
