I am getting a 1970 6 HP Johnson back up from a long sleep. Is has 90 lbs compression in both cylinders, good spark w/ a spark tester with brand new coils, points, condensers, spark plugs. It runs in the tank at full speed, but will not run at low speed. I have pulled the carb, disassembled it, and am soaking it right now. There was some crud in it, so I'm going to clean it very carefully. Probably twice.

The question is: I have all of the replacement carb gaskets from old (not used) kits hanging on the pegboard, but I'm short the fiber packing washers for the low speed needle valve. What I have is: One proper fiber washer (brown), two nylon washers (same size as fiber one), and two O-rings (same size, bag marked PN 307853). Is there a way to use some combination of these that will work properly?

Thanks!
I'd hate to drive the 40 mile round trip for just a couple of 10 cent washers. I think the nylon ones were for my 40, but I couldn't remember....

Thanks again. Put it back together with the nylon packing washers, and it ran perfectly. One pull starts after it was warmed up. It hasn't been run in 10+ years. Now to see if the LU is still sealed. Also, the twist throttle is kind of wonky, so I have a couple of things left on the list.
