Hello..

Iam new to boating and I have bought good KC Thermoglass 16ft runabout with a 1970 40HP "Lark" 40072A outboard that has only been used in freshwater. What does the letter "A" mean at the end of the model number..? and does this model have a generator/Alternator to power lights and a radio etc..?

Thanks Derek BC Canada

The "A" is a manufacturing run number and normally means nothing.
It should have a belt driven generator. They only put out 10 amps max, so don't plan on running that much. The electric shift coils will consume about 2 amps.

Hello... Thanks for that info, and a quick reply.
I am sure over the next few weeks I shall be asking more questions on the Forum.

No problem. I'm currently running a (mostly) 1969 40hp manual shift right now. I've had quite a few 40's over the years.....great motors.
