I forget the ebay number but heres a quick description: 1970 15' fiberglass Tarpoon. Pedistal seats, trolling motor, fish finder, 40hp with power tilt, trailer, two batteries, bildge pump, and a few other misc items. He states the transom is a little weak but he claims thats an easy fix. Seller says he is selling everything on it and throwing the boat on "is as".

What you guys think? It is about 15 miles south of me. I am looking to get my own boat this summer instead of always using my brother's POS jon boat with a 7.5 that I swear will sink sometime soon. I do not have experience with fiberglass but I'm sure I could figure stuff out. I don't need anything fancy.

How much would you guys pay up to? Is it even worth it? My orginal plan was to save up a little more (mid 1000 range) then go looking through the ads in the paper, but I can afford this now and seems like it has all the accessories I want, just needs a little work. If I get a chance I'm going to drive down to take a look in person.

Any advice would be greatly apprecaited. I have the basic principle of fiberglass down but have never worked on nor owned anything fiberglass.

The difficulty of the transom depends on the boat. I just put one in my Glastron and it was fairly involved, could have been done in a couple weekends though. Without seeing the boat, I would be leery of going very high. To do the transom right will cost you $100+ and quite a bit of time. If your area is like mine, $1500 will buy you an old boat in good shape needing only minor stuff. A transom is major in my book. As an example, a friend of mine bought a '76 model 16' boat with a '76 70hp Johnson and trailer. Had the carbs rebuilt. He only has $1200 in it. A couple hunderd more and it make a great fishing boat (seats, ffinder, trolling motor, etc)

I email the seller and recieved more pictures. Looks like too much of a project for my likes, and experience for that matter. From the pictures it looks like the previous owner mickey moused it together

I am not weary of older fiberglass boats but just think - a 33 year old boat with a bad transom. Of what you listed only the motor and trailer have any value and not much at that if anywhere near the age of the boat.
