I have a 50hp mercury redband it is in as new condition but i have a problem starting it from hot it starts but it won't take the throttle unless you are quick at getting it in gear and slam the throttle full open then it takes off & runs fine until you stop it again.

robfal,

Open the idle mixture screws another 1/2 turn and try again.

Actually, you should count the number of turns to seat them lightly (do not bear down) and count the number of turns that you open them, making sure they are both open an equal amount.

Your engine should run well (without bogging) in the range of 1-1/2 to 2 turns open.

Good luck, Gold Bear ;)
