Hi all,
Recently picked up an early 70's chrysler 75 hp outboard (model number 7574).
Motor runs good but It is not charging the battery.
I disconnected the two grey leads and read 40V AC from the stator while the engine is at a high idle.
Is this good?
Wondering what is the best way to check the rectifier (it is an old school selenium rectifier with 3 leads) and the 'trip regulator' as the manual calls it.
If someone can explain how the trip regulator works as well that would be appreciated.
Please see pics attached of the rectifier.
Any feedback is appreciated, thank you for your time.

Unless you want to keep it original;
Don't bother with testing/checking, just install any runofthemill Rectifier

you can get them on Ebay starting at $15
