The fuel tank to motor quick connect adapter is leaking, I had some hard starting issues, noticed some fuel leaking & then I couldn't get the primer bulb firm a few trips later. Noticed the quick connect adapter is leaking.

No local shops have the adapter and I have a mid week trip all planned out. Do I need to run this?

What kind of adapter do you have? It should be a standard Johnson/ Evinrude connector, made for 50+ years. If it's leaking, it's likely the o-ring in the female end, common part, easy to find. Even WalMart or NAPA has them. The male end rarely wears out.

If you're absolutely sure you can't get connector, you could connect the fuel hose directly to the fuel pump inlet.

I do the same as Chinewalker. Remove the fuel connector inside the lower cowling. Remove the fuel connector on the fuel line. Run the fuel line through the (new)hole in the lower cowling-direct to the hose barb on the fuel pump. You won't have to worry about any more leaks. Just make the hose a gradual bend, so it won't kink and restrict fuel flow.
