I have it running on a electric fuel pump and my gauge shows 3 psi i am not sure how accurate my gauge is however. I'm looking to install a different pump a Carter P4389 In-Line Electric Fuel Pump and want to know if the 6 psi it is rated for is too much. the factory mechanical built in pump dose not work on my aplicaton so i dont know what it should be. I would think an average pressure spec on any 115 tower of power would be close enough Thank you

Dose anyone have a general fuel pressure spec for a Inline 6 Tower of Power? Just looking for a general requirement for a 115 hp gallons per hour and pressure. I am also looking at an Airtex E8016S rated for 2.5-4.5psi and 30GPH

Thank you i will probably go with the 2.5-4.5 psi pump then 30 GPH should be enough, I just wanted to get a guideline as i had no specs on the electric fuel pump on it now or the factory pumps. As far as fixing the factory pumps I tried once and failed when i bought the motor it was running on an electric pump and had the factory pumps bypassed I bought new diaphragms and check valves and ran new lines to the factory pumps and it would run out of fuel and stumble at times so i just went back to using the electric pump as it solved my problem. I am not sure however if i had the lines to the pumps ran correctly, there were no lines and i assumed that the two pumps were plumed in parallel and that is how i ran them but now i think the factory pumps were connected in series originally? Anyways i'm going to stick with the electric pump as i use it to prime it and don't have to mess with the primer ball however i did leave the primer ball in there as a back up get back to shore pump. I do have my pump wired in so that it only runs when the motor is running or when the electric choke is activated to prime the fuel system. Thank you

OK, I'll bite. How did you wire the fuel pump to only operate when motor is running?

No Title

I just used some diodes and tapped into the charging stator for a engine running/charging signal and also tapped the choke solenoid as a prime signal to activate a relay that turns the fuel pump on. To prime the fuel i just activate the choke for a few seconds before i crank the engine

I like it....simple and effective. What was the cost of the relay and diodes?

Thanks i had most of that stuff on hand so relays are $5-10 ish and a "diode trio" runs $5-10 ish
