1971 25hp evinrude, shearing of key problem

just put a new tune up kit on this motor, runs great for a good while(half a day) then it quit on me, took it apart and found the key was sheared off, so found another one from my pile of older evinrudes and replaced it, ran great again for a half a day then it quite again, checked the key again and it sheared off again, any ideas on why this would do this twice in a short while? thanks dave gowen mi

What torque value are you using?
If the engines far out of time it can blow the key
