Ran last year, Charged batt , no start. Replaced Starter Solinoid, Re built starter. Pionon gear meshes with flywheel, pulled plugs out, so no compression, barely turns flywheel. Starter is 12. v What can be wrong here, I can turn flywheel with hand...

Assuming that the battery is good and indeed fully charged, you have a dirty contact somewhere. It could be where the cables connect to the battery, where the ground (-) connects to the motor, where the large cable from the solenoid connects with the starter motor, etc. Checking connections is not good enough. Remove, clean, and re-connect. When you replaced the solenoid, did you clean all connections good there.

OK, I'll clean them all, yep batt is fully charged. I guess the old wires can be bad inside so loss of current? :^ Perhaps that is all it is, New rebuild on starter so I'll
try that, any other thoughts?

Is The Pinion Gear Not suppos to slip on starter engage.? The gear travels up to flywheel, engages and the starter motor spins, but the pinion dosent at all times???? I cleaned battery, start silinoid, ground, etc even key switch wires...

when the starter motor runs, it's suppose to spin the pinion gear up the shaft, and engage the flywheel to turn the engine so it will start... if it's not the starter is either not spinning fast enough, or the shaft needs a couple of drops of oil. check you cables for any cuts, knicks, swelling they have a tendency to deteriorate from the inside out. if the starter motor is turning but the pinion is not, something is wrong.

iwent to brp-evinrude engine diagram, if the motor shaft is spinning and the drive assembly (pinion gear) isn't. you probably need to replace. depends on which starter you have. prestolite #0384785 or american bosch 0384781. numbers for drive assembly. good luck.
before you take any thing apart, that jumper cable from positve battery directly to the big connection on the starter. if this works, recheck cables and connections.

Sounds as though your battery cables are shot. Try jumpers from the battery to the engine.
