1971 9.5hp compression?

i think i saw somewhere that the compression on these 9.5's should be around 60+psi?

i just did a compression test on this 71 that i just picked up, and im getting 53psi on the top and 55psi on the bottom cylinder. are these values low? anything i can do to raise compression without tearing apart the motor?

Has the engine been sitting for awhile?
That should be enough compression to get it started, run it for awhile and recheck the compression and see if it comes up. You could also do a decarb and see if it helps the compression, might have some stuck rings.

yes it has been sitting for awhile. not sure for how long, as it was robbed of all ignition parts. ill get it running and see what happens
