OK. New to the forum. Just picked up this older seastar boat and the motor is a 1971 455hc chrysler 45 outboard. Owner showed video she was running last year. So I am trying to start boat with a charged battery and all I get is the choke solenoid to click shut, zero noise or movement from the starter. I find the prop is "engaged" and moving the shifter back/forth does not disengage prop from motor. Appears neutral safety switch gets engaged and disengaged when i move the shifter but prop still engaged. What should be my next steps? Is there another safety switch hidden in the outdrive and maybe the shift rod is jammed? Any suggestions welcome. Waiting to get a manual.
