I'm thinking about buying my second restoration project, a 1971 Concorde 27, and when looking at it yesterday found that there are two oval holes in the outside of the transom. One of these holes has, what looks like, a transducer wire coming out and the other does not. These holes reveal that the outside fiberglass is about 3/4" thick however, there is definitely soft wood behind it. I didn't get a lot of time to look at it to tell if that wood is structural and needs to be replaced or if it was just used during the layup. I also can't figure out why those holes would be there. I was thinking maybe for a self-bailing deck, but didn't think of it in time to find their location relative to the deck, which needs to be replaced.

I've spent the past 12 hours searching for info on this boat and have turned up very little so if anyone here knows anything about this boat, I'll take any information I can get that will help in making the buying decision. It's cheap enough that even if the wood is structural and needs to be replaced, it may still be worth it.

Thank you!!

Just in case someone else ever needs the info... I took another look at the boat and it turns out the transom is solid fiberglass and the wood is actually a support for the floor that I already knew needs replacing.

Heck of a good looking boat! Solid fiberglass transom...or maybe a pour in transom. The oval drillings have me perplexed. They have had to have been factory. No-one drills out oval. If the wood behind the solid fiberglass transom is wet expect that you have a full redo. Pics have been tough to post.
Good luck.
