hello:
looks as if i will follow some advice from some of the iboats engine experts and R&R l/u on my 1971 Evinrude 85HP so as to replace my impeller. i do have the OE service manual, but i was wondering if anyone who has done it could do a written "walk-thru" of how to do to augment what is in the manual. i know i need new seals, i assume impeller, some gaskets, an o-ring, type c oil, etc. but where to start? drain oil? what about trim tab and bolts? once that's done, how hard will it be to get off? any trick to help? i know the elec to solenoid has to be pushed thru, but what will it look like inside? any pix avail? how to do the water pump impeller change out and parts R&R? tips to reassemble. and how to get a good seal? what to look for as to any potential problems or problems area. engine has been cared for, but l/u only dropped once. a start here, do this, do that, be careful here, watch for this, here's how to do this... would be helpful.
or an iboats link on subject, if one exists.
one iboats poster said he changed l/u's more often than his shorts. no doubt he could do it blindfolded... but me? this will be my first time.
well, hope all have a nice weekend. don't eat TOO much, might slow ur boat down... lol
thank you.
regards
