Got a question... I've been running my merc quite a bit lately and I was out on the lake a few weeks ago and I was running full throttle and the rpm's started to drop. I had been out for maybe an hour or so befor this happened. I tried to start it again and it'd start right up, but the same thing happened. I noticed everytime it did this it was dumping unburnt fuel out. I got it back to the dock barely. I could only run it in forward gear with no throttle or it'd die. I'm thinking it's the coil? What do you guy's think it could be? By the way rebuilt carb's, fuel lines, pumps, and 120 even comp on every cylinder.

I cannot determine the problem from the symptoms given. That motor will have a distributor, with a single coil. Put a timing light on a plug wire and see if the spark is consistant. Check for arcing from plug wires to ground.

Post results.
