I started my engine while in the water and the pull cord would not recoil back in, luckly it started on the first try. The pull cord is all the way out but still attached. It does not appear to be hard to fix, but dont want to take it apart as of now. Is this something that could be easily fixed, or should I have it serviced by a dealer??

Hi, Brad.

Servicing recoil starters is probably the most hazardous thing you can do with an outboard that isn't running, BBMAXX.

First get a manual. Then get heavy gloves and safety glasses.

The recoil spring may have broken, or it may have slipped off a post. Your pull rope may have developed a twist or knot that is jamming it.

Good luck. :)
