I have a Seloc book that says 1 1/4 to 1 3/4 turns; I have another book from the library that says 5/8 to 3/4 turns out--quite a disparity. Mine were set at 1 3/4 out, always seemed rich, and fouled a plug Saturday. Ideas and suggestions are welcome.

Replace plugs every 80hours or so,and it's normal.
I would turn it clockwise 1/4turn, and see if the performance stays the same. If so, great. Your fuel economy should pick up a bit too.
If so, try another 1/4turn in,but be suure to wait about 30 seconds between the two adjustments. But if it seems slugish at all, return it to 1-3/4 turns. It's best to burn rich, fouling the occasional plug and smoking a bit, than to score the jugs from lack of lubrication due to a lean condition.
