Here's the story .. New starter, new battery, new cables. Starter engages but won't turn engine over. Took plugs out and turns over fine. Noticed black gooey stuff coming from one of the coils (only one on starter side of engine) I know this must be replaced but people are telling me that has nothing to do with my problem. Right or wrong ?? Any other suggestions for me as to what my problem could be ?? I thought maybe timing !

Measure the voltage between the terminals of the starter when engaged, Pata. If it is less that 9.5V, you have a low resistance open in the high current circuit. Solenoid, cable or connection.

Good luck.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)
