I have a crack in my fuel pump cover causing fuel leakage and motor to stall out. It is a 1972 Mercury 7.5hp. I recently picked this up from a guy who told me about this issue. Problem is I cant seem to find the part. Fuel pump part # 53240. The crack is in the plastic cover. I read another similar post about the same thing but no follow up was given. Previous owner tried JB weld. Not happening. Can I swap out a different type of fuel pump? My knowledge is very little as This is a learning experience for me. Any help?

So I am in Central California. I've had a few boats in my life. I have had all aluminum fishing boats in the 14ft range. Mainly because its what I can afford at the moment. My experience working on boat engines is limited . I currently have a 14ft Gregor with a 20hp Merc long shaft. I bought this 7.5hp SS to run in the rivers. The fuel pump cover seems to be unavailable from what I can dig up. See pics below. You can see the JB weld that was applied on the black plastic fuel pump cover. The crack is on the threads causing the leak

Walked over as in you and I are close? Inwill be there in a heartbeat. Would you be interested in selling a cover that will fit that fuel pump?

Sorry ---you are 6 days driving away.------I use the term " walk over " as to mean that shipping a wee part like that is a lot of work.----The conversion is EASY in my opinion !
