Well.. Tonight I was cranking my motor a few times, trying to wake it from slumber. I put new gas in, lubed it up and tried to start her off and on for about 2 mintues. All of a sudden, I lost all ignition power.

I turn ignition and no crank. I seemed to have lost power to the positive cable. Battery is good, took it off and tested it, even tried a diff battery. Positive cable was pretty warm to the touch.. but not scalding.

I dont even get a spark when reconnecting the Positive cable.. I fear there is a short somewhere in the ignition now...

Where would you guys start ?

Thanks in advance.. Looks like fishing/waterskiing is out for tomorrow :-(

Try pulling the plugs and grounding the tips with the spark plug wires attached. This should reduce compression a bunch so even with a week battery it should turn over. IF it does turn over verify you have spark. Does the motor have a Tach?

Re: 1972 70 HP Chrysler.. No Ignition

I narrowed it down... If I could find my darn repair manual I could tell you what it is.. However.. I am not getting any power through the first black box where the ignition wiring and battery cables terminate before going to the starter.

When I bypassed that with the positive cable i get continutity When I hook it back up correctly, no continuity... argh...

No no tach :(

Is the part you are describing the solenoid?
