In the wire connecting block I Have power in the red terminal and the 2 point wires are connected to white and blue terminals and no power at the points with ignition on. Could anybody tell me if 2 wires leading to points are in wrong position? 1972 555HD

First we have to find out what ignition system you have.
Is it battery ignition system or Magna Power ignition system feed by battery.

In battery ignition system you have a blue wire at (+) each ignition coil which is the power from the key.
The other side of the coils (-) which goes to the points is white and the other coil brown.

If you have Magna power ignition system the blue wire goes from CD box to keyswitch (I) terminal which is power to the box.
The white wire which also goes from CD box to key switch (M) terminal which is the shut off wire.

Simply called a 55 electric, no cd box, a double black wire from terminal block to coils, colors are different since coils are new, Wires coming from under the coil i think are positive are connected to black wire from terminal and condenser and top coil wires are grounded through condenser bracket. All coils points condensers are new

Are the ignition coils mouted under the flywheel?

Then you have magneto ignition system and the white wire from terminal block goes to one of the two M terminal at keyswitch.
The blue wire from terminal block goes to the other M terminal at keyswitch.
This is the stop circuit. With keyswitch in off position these terminals are connected to each other.

From terminal block two black wires are connected to the points and condenser for each cylinder under the flywheel.
The blue and the white wire are connected to each black wire at terminal block.

This is the right connection for the system.
Blue and white make a short circuit with key in off position and kills the engine.

Is it possible then that with key on and no power thru the black wires to the +coil, condenser, points connection, could originate in the key switch? Why is this particular key switch so hard to find?

As you not answered my question about the coils, it is hard to help you.
From the information you have given and my experince of Chrysler OB 35-55Hp ignition system you suppose to have a magneto ignition system.

The wires you are talking about is the stop circuit and as you suppose to have magneto system it is self- generating and you do not have any power at these wires as long as the engine is not runing.

BTW what is the problem with the engine?

The ignitionswitch is available at many marine websites. It is a 6 pole push to choke typ.
