Chrysler 55hp mdl 555HC ser# 3397 has been in warm dry storage for 2 years ( ran good when stored). 1st time out it seemed to run fine. 2nd, 3rd time it starts and runs ok at slow speed but does not get to higher speed with throttle full open.
After awhile it seems to get hot, but starts ok.
When started I can't shift into gear without stalling.
I don't see water coming out anywhere for the cooling and wonder if there should be. I am not sure where it is expelled from the engine and is this part of the problem ? Could an impeller need replaced or is there somthing else going on ?

It appears that your motor needs the carb cleaned and the impeller changed. The carb should be disassembled and soaked in carb cleaner for cleaning. You should see water coming out of the back of the motor within about 15-30 seconds after the motor starts.

That should be all that's going on from your description of things.

Shane

Check compression and spark..its possible you have a blown head gasket.

TMD
