I been having issues with my engine, it will go into gear (forward and reverse) sometimes. When i get it into gear the prop will spin and idle ok but once I put throttle up it just does nothing its like it is not catching or something I am out of ideas and really do not no much about boat motors

Howdy

Welcome to iboats. :)

Most likely a spun prop hub, Sarge. You can get her re-hubbed at any prop shop.

Good luck. :)

What have you done to troubleshoot the problem? Have you made sure it is not the dog clutch failing?

Okay, you really need to explain yourself a little better. You say you are out of ideas, but yet the readers can not determine what you have done. Instead of beating around the bush, let us know what you have done. You say it will go into gear sometimes, but then you say when you get it into gear the prop will spin and idle ok. Tell us what you mean by sometimes. Such as; it is hard to get into gear sometimes but when I force it, it eventually gets into gear. Telling us what you have done, eliminates the things we will tell you to do. Help us, help you.

One thing I want you to try: With the motor not running[/B. First, place shifter in Neutral. Attempt to spin prop. Prop should turn. Now place shifter in Forward, Attempt to spin prop. Prop should not turn. Lastly, place shifter in Reverse. Attempt to spin prop. Prop should not turn. If lower unit is removed from the motor, just you the shift linkage. Up for forward, down for reverse. In the middle is neutral. Prop does not have to be on, you can just attempt to spin the prop shaft.

Please send pictures of what you have.

If the above quote is true and Pics dictates it being true. The Pro Shop might be where you need to go to get assistance in repairing and reassembling your lower unit. I hope you are at the point of the attachments but I feel your statement means you are past this stage.

Good Luck!
