What should I do with the floor? The previous owner started removing storage compartments so I completed the task. I'm curious how much structural support the compartments added, they were glassed in. This hull doesn't appear to have ever had any kind of stringers or foam core. Once I replace the benches can I just lay some 1708 in the bottom? I'll get some current pics of the inside this afternoon.
P.S. Watch out for snakes when removing old debris from your project!

All the snakes are gone and this is what I have now. Am I going to be okay to just glass over this after it's prepped? Seems solid but... I'm going to redo the front bench and wood trim and I've got a small center console.

Any suggestions on what to do with this? Multiple layers of 1708 or one heavy woven roven and then cover? I'm putting the front bench/livewell back in. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend cleaning up all the rough stubs, loose looking glass. So when you go and glass with the current view those stubs they will make air pockets. Datbenoguud!
What is under the sides going uo to the gunnels? Is there wood in there?

Yeah I have cleaned up more since the pics but still needs a lot more. No wood in the sides and that had me worried about how much structural strength the molded in compartments added. It's like it was all homemade but I know it wasn't unless someone totally gutted and added the compartment lockers yrs ago..

The center has stringer's & decking but it's solid.. The side are just the bottom hull. The lockers I removed were fiberglass and just sitting on little wooden pads cut like wedges to hold them level and they were only glassed around the sides. Didn't appear to be structural once I got to cutting on them..

Sorry let me rephrase. The floor is solid. Very solid ( literally I'm starting to wonder) I have no idea about the stringer's or if it even has any. They could only be 3/4 of an inch or so tall in the center because of the hull shape. This is the strangest boat I've ever owned. Titled as a 1972 Dixie Dory with factory badges but the HIN# comes back as Home Built Fiberglass. I've had to jump through hoops living on the river to register washed up boat's as abandoned several times but I can't understand why it would be titled as both Dixie & Homebuilt?

I just had it titled also as all are requided to be titled here now not just registered because I was half expecting a hiccup with this strange assortment of information and paperwork I have on this boat. The dory was a side console from what I've seen and I purchased this as a tiller from the P.O. who has had it registered since mid 80's..Maybe he done some serious layout changes yrs ago....... ?

If you use poly resin and you use woven you must use csm first then the woven wet on wet ..
If epoxy no csm is needed ...

I actually seen a large roll of 2708 Biaxial on CList locally while searching for a newer outboard for $150 they had pallets of it 12 miles up the road. I don't know enough about it to know if it would suit my needs.. I know I don't need that much. Probably make a strong but heavy floor.

Ok just so you understand there is 1708 biax and 1700 biax. You would want the 1700. Has no matt. The matt in 1708 is for poly. 1700 for EEEppOOxy. :)
I learned this when I started. It can be used but why spend more than you have to w/EEEEEpppoooxxy anyway.

Thanks!
