To start:
Disconnect yellow and black wire from CDI unit. This wire will have to be grounded to kill the engine.

Jumper 12vdc from HOT battery to red and yellow wire on the small post on the starter solenoid. This by-passes neutral and ignition switchs, If everything else is good to go, this will start the engine.

c/6

Hooty

Hooty is correct....

Thats a hydro electric...

even when the engine is working fine and the grear case is in neutral.. it will start in gear..

Once the oil pressure in the gear case gets high enough,, it will switch to neutral.. but until that point, it will be in gear...

rgds

Franki

We can't find the yellow and black wire. What is the CDI unit? Does anybody have a diagram of the wires and their colors? They're a little old and faded.
