Hello,

This is my first forum post--I hope I've followed the rules and guidelines properly.

I just purchased a 1972 Chaparrel 15-foot boat with an Evinrude 65 hp motor that I assume was manufactured in the same year. When I bought the boat, the motor was raised, but a mechanic friend of mine lowered it to see if the engine would start after five years in a garage. It did start, but now we can't get the motor to raise again so that I can safely bring it on a trailer to the local landing. Is there a trick to lifting the motor? It seems impossibly stuck.

Thanks for any help or advice from the forum.

There should be a lever that you move left, or right on the from of the stern bracket assembly.

Thanks . . . I found it and successfully raised the motor.
