I posted a few weeks ago about a no start issue. I was able to find the inline fuse and replace it. The boat ran for a few mninutes then died and i had no spark. the wire running from the amplifier up under the flywheel was badly, badly corroded. So i bought a new amplifier. I hooked up the blue and red wires via the instructions, but now that ive pulled the flywheel i cant figure out how to hook up the new wire to the power points? Not new to working on cars, but pretty new to outboards.
The following pictures of the two remaining wires from the new amplifier, the instructions, and where the corroded wire runs to the points.. how in the world do i get this wire unhooked so i can hook up the new one? theres two screws but both are very hard to get to, i loosened one and it didnt seem to loosen the wire at all.

I looked the pictures over, and also the instruction sheet which seemed pretty straight forward to me. However, you do need a basic working knowledge of mechanics, perhaps soldering etc...... and the removal of the distributor cap and rotor to get things out of your way. Perhaps you are mechanical inclined and if so, it is not my intentions to insult or offend you. Bottom line is that the job you're faced with is a first class PITA for a experienced outboard mechanic with many years experience... at least it's a job I never looked forward to. All I can suggest is to re-read the instructions and stare at that ignition armature plate until it makes sense to you. I do wish you luck.

Just face the fact that you need to remove the plate and take it apart as far as necessary to get the job done.
