I am also a member at fiberglassics.com (which is down at the moment) and I usually post over there. I think it's because my boats are glassics. I realized it would be no problem if I posted here instead so here we go...

I have a G-W Invader 14 foot drag n ski I want to restore/rebuild. I was told it is a 1972 but I really have no idea.
I will post pics of the progress (which will probably be slow) as I go. Boat is in ROUGH condition but I love it :).
I'm hoping for some input, thoughts, criticism, help.

Last one for now. The interior needs all the balsa in the floor replaced.

Here you can see the cradle I built for it and the damaged spots.

The seam on the inside where the top and bottom come together was glassed with a layer of cloth then some chop strand. This was done by the factory.
I'm trying to break the cloth/strand seal to split the hull. This is proving to be a challenge.

I may end up doing some grinding from the inside but I want to avoid that. Besides I can't get to it all from the inside.

Below is my attempt to split the seam (flash must have been off). Here's where i'd like to hear suggestions!

I'd just use a multitool on the seam and cut it. Lots of work but it's glass so it's all fixable. I didn't see any balsa core. Only woven roving.

Hi WOG, would you cut the seam from inside the boat? I just want to be sure I'm on the same page. The woven roving is a little delaminated so I might be replacing some of it. I will get better pics of where I'm pretty sure the balsa is...or was.

I'm getting somewhere but still a long way from splitting. I may have to use the angle grinder and weaken the seam from inside.

Got to be careful with that angle grinder can do some massive damage really quick if you're not paying attention. I may have done it before...:faint2:

I did buy one of them multi-function tools today. I will try that first!

Got it apart...finally. It took a lot of brute force, 2 nail pullers, a hammer, and a small amount of multi-function tool cutting.
