I have a 1972 Johnson 60hp that is not getting any electric to the engine. The battery is good and I have power at the front end of the starter solenoid but the electric choke has no power and I don't even get any power to the lights on the boat. Is there a fuse or something inside of the controls or under the dash that would cause this. Thanks for any suggestions.

I'll assume you're saying that you have no voltage at the ignition switch, you turn the key and the starter solenoid doesn't click in and engage to crank the engine over, etc.

If so, there are a couple small RED wires leading to the starter solenoid. Follow those wires away from the solenoid a very short distance and you'll find a fuse holder that contains a short 20 ampere fuse. That's the power fuse. Check it.

But the running lights should not be connected to that fuse. If they are, you have some other work to do. But lets assume it is rigged properly. Have you removed and cleaned all the battery connections shiny bright and reinstalled them securely? That is always one of the first steps. After you have done that, and if you still have no power, it is time to break out the multimeter and start circuit testing. Don't guess and replace good parts---TEST There is no magic in electricity, it all makes logical sense.

EDIT: I just re-read your post. You said you have power to the front of the solenoid, but nowhere else. Yep sounds like a blown fuse, except for the running lights as I mentined. It ALSO is typical of corroded battery cables or connections. Follow through as I suggested.

Thanks. I'll try these things in the next day or so and then update.
