For all those who have tried to find a reason for a low power problem on a 50 hp mercury and have not had any luck after going through all the basics, like wires, fuel/carburator , try looking at the reed valves just inside the carburator housing(intake manifold). I have discovered that one of the 4 reed valves on my lower carburator is stuck closed and does not open and close properly causing my lower carburator to be useless. this is a major repair job, I have been told.
