Hello,

I recently acquired my families old ski boat. A 1972 16' MFG with a Mercruiser 165hp inline 6.
I was beginning the work around to change the oil, spark plugs and maybe fuel filter if it needs. I was given 3 plugs that i'm told were from the winterizing of the motor. 2 that were the same size and thread, (Seems to fit the block), then 1 smaller plug. Knowing that plugs go 1 to the exhaust manifold, 1 to the block, and 1 suppose to go to the rising, I'm having issues with getting the small plug to fit into the manifold. The plug seems a shade to large. However; it doesnt fit the rising on the back. The plug slips right in without threading. This smaller plug also seems to have stripped or flattened threads, so it may need replaced... Then those other 2 plugs, I can't figure out where the second goes. 1 fits the block, but I can't find another place for the 2nd plug.

Anyone who can shed light here's my questions.
With 3 drain plugs, 2 are the same size that either will fit the block, 1 smaller that is a shade too large for the manifold and a shade too small for the rising.

What size should these plugs be,?
Where else could I be missing a plug?
Can anyone confirm that there are 3 needed? 1 on the block, 1 on the manifold, 1 on the rising?

FYI: The oil pans plug is in. So none of these go there.

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,... The larger plugs are 1/4" pipe thread, 'n the smaller is 1/8" pipe thread, available at any hardware store...

The block drain ya found,...
The other 1/4" plug should go in the riser, at the aft corners, either side...

The 1/8" manifold plug can be replaced, 'n check the "Hole" for debris, 'n obstructions...
