Just got a boat with a 1973 135 starflite engine. Previous owner used starting fluid to get going. With muffs on and the starting fluid (yes I know don't use starting fluid) it fired right up and ran good. Took it to a local lake and same thing about starting. Once on the lake and moving it was great. When put in idle - neutral it would run for a while and then stall. Pulled into a cove and sat for a few minutes and it idled for the whole time. Turned it off and sat for about 20 minutes and it started up with out anything. Sometimes it will start right back up others it will take me to pull up the warn up lever, other times back to the fluid. I have a feeling that it is just an adjustment on the carb/choke. When I was waiting to get to the ramp if I put in neutral it seemed to start to spit. If I pulled up on the warn up lever a little to get the rpm's going it was fine.
Idle screw and Trunnion?
