i just replaced the water pump and exhaust gasket went to put into the water and try it now the thing wont start i have spark in the 1 and 3 cylinders but on the 2 and 4 the spark is there sometimes and sometimes not also the starter seems slow the motor cranks slow I think the battery was ok and had a power pack "jumper pack" hooked up . a litle history when i got it they had what all i can guess was lawn mower key in the ignition so when i brought it home i ran a new remote wire and put in a new ignition

You need to spin the starter at least 250 rpm in order for the ignition system to fire on that engine.

Not that this will help..but it may....on my exhaust cover the the battery negative and power pack ground is grounded to the cover...if yours are try to clean them up...clean the grounding surface and lugs....

also check the wires you moved around....at that age they tend to be brittle and some corrode on the inside....

just a thot..some of the big dogs will chime in and give u better advice
